WHy was Ms Knightley annoyed? Why was the image manipulated? Is it wrong to change images like this? Why, or why not?

I think Keira Knightley was annoyed because it is trying to display her as something she is not, they were also insulting her in a way, by saying that her chest was too small and to look better she needed to have a bigger chest. I think the image was manipulated to make it appeal more to the audience, in this case especially to males. In my opinion it is wrong to change an image like this because it distorts everyone's view of reality.

In a statement last night, a spokesman for Ralph Lauren said: ‘For over 42 years, we have built a brand based on quality and integrity...'
Their behaviour in this instance is contrary to what most people would define as responsible behaviour. Should we boycott them?

Votes which are accompanied by some reasoning - a comment on framing, composition, angle, palette, editing, lighting, or whatever seems relevant - count for twice as much as those which lack it!

This is an extremely powerful photo, and it was partially responsible for the withdrawal of American troops from Vietnam. What can you find about the photo online? Is it as clerar cut as it appears? Is the 'bad guy' really bad?

Media studs. research helps us to see what is happening through clear research. We can analyse what is happening and why it is happening. We are given the impression that the man shooting is a bad guy. But is he? He was only following orders to kill a man who had already killed 7 people. This man being shot was a Viet Cong rebel. Man shooting is a general from the south vietnam police.

I think Nick Ut's picture is better because his picture really emphasizes the facial expressions of the children in Vietnam. Also the road acts a a leading line, leading the viewers eyes to the smoke in the background. The picture is in monochrome, which makes it more dramatic it sets the atmosphere. The blurred smoke in the back forces the viewers eyes to focus on the children and the soldiers.

"the bad guy" is a american troop but then as this picture isnt clear. it seems that the shoooter is the enemy when shown to americans but it is actually the opposite. it shows how everyone treats 'bad guys' as their enemy and dont normally think that it is their ally because they are so high of themselves :)

This picture was taken on the General Nguyễn Ngọc Loan February 1, 1968. It shows Chief Nguyễn Ngọc Loan, a South Vietnamese National Police Chief executing a Viet Cong officer in Saigon. The prisoner, who was either Nguyễn Văn Lém or Le Cong Na (both from Viet Cong) killed at least seven people. Some South Vietnamese sources said that Lém commanded a Viet Cong assassination, and on the same day had targeted South Vietnamese National Police officers.

I think that Ut's photo is better than the other picture because in Ut's photo every person is afraid and emphasis the true meaning of war and was there lots of emotion going around the photo. I also think that Ut's photo shows that every person in there has their own story to tell about war. You can also tell that Ut's photo put alot of effort into taking the picture unlike the other person it looks like he just took the picture at any random time and was not planned out very well because there was camera crew and most of the people in the picture were not showing their true emotions at that time.

Nick Ut used a different angle point from the other photo, also he puts the subject in the center to really emphasis the way his cloths are off. also the background is blurred so makes your eyes focus of the people on the front. you can also see the expression on the children's faces that makes it look dark and scary. in the other people you can see the other film crews interviewing the soldiers, which makes the picture worse than Nick Ut.

Like Jennifer, I did Media Studies right from GCSE to A Levels, and graduated in 2006. I will be in my final undergraduate year of my Double Major program in CCIT and Fine Art History the coming September '09.
Unlike the VCC specialist Jennifer has mentioned above, CCIT, which is short for Communication, Culture and Informations Technology (I know...it's a mouth-full) is a four-year interdisciplinary Media program that offers a great breadth of courses in the areas of arts and sciences.
The list of courses you may choose from involves basic media history, graphic design, web design, interactive games design, animation, media politics, social-culture and media, semiotics, media law, journalism, the science behind human communication (i.e. the psychology, and neurology behind advertising etc...) the list goes on! As you probably know by now, everything in the world has some relation to media, and CCIT gives you a great set of knowledge, which then can take you to almost any career you may aspire - the choices are endless.
If you are a media theory buff like me, the CCIT Major may be a good choice. If you are looking for a program that requires a lot of practical media production work you would be better off in an arts school, because not all courses offer practical digital media work...BUT! In order to graduate, all CCIT students are required to take around eight courses at Sheridan College, where you will get some basic exposure to digital media production with programs like FinalCut Pro...Photoshop...Illustrator...basically the entire Adobe Creative Suite. So, I'd say CCIT is 90% theory and 10% practical.
An important note - the CCIT Major is a Double Major program, so you must choose another field to major in, such as studio art, fine art history, professional writing (that can take you into journalism), psychology, and sociology.

I would like to make a promotional video for the CAS activity, Yoga. As i am doing it this year i will have the experience to talk about it. It would be aimed at the Year 9's going into Year 10 and it will mainly show them what happens in Yoga and we will try to influence their final decisions. My client would be Ms Sharma and i think that she would be willing to do this as she will get the opportunity to teach new students. Jake Kemp Nathan Chiu

Hi, I'm a former SIS student and I currently go to CCA for Photography, finishing my 3rd year of study. It is an art/design school located in the San Francisco Bay Area, with a strong focus on interdisciplinary studies between different majors and has a strong community for critique and discussion on what's happening in the art world these days. Here is a full list of our Academic Programs - http://www.cca.edu/academics/
When I applied to the school I was originally a Visual Studies major, which involves lots of critical theory and writing on media culture that you may all be familiar with - the course description is here - http://www.cca.edu/academics/visual-studies
The reason I switched is because I fell in love with the language of photography and the discussions that came about between the artist and the audience. Without Photography there would be no film; I was also interested in the effects Photography has had throughout history and its socio-political bearings that it still has in contemporary times.
I've also dabbled in the Media Arts department, which is our film (but not limited to film) course. The Media Arts Program has three areas of focus: experimental film and video, narrative film and video, and new digital media. The coursework emphasizes both theory and practice: the conceptual framework of contemporary media art and technical skills applicable to the time-based arts.
We even have an Animation department, and the Pixar Studio is nearby so professors of this course are professionals that work with Pixar. It's a new department and I've seen some pretty exciting work coming out of there. - http://www.cca.edu/academics/animation
