SIS Primary ChannelThis is a featured page

This channel is devoted to the construction of primary related products, which can aid learning in Hong Kong's primary schools but especially those within the English Schools Foundation. One possibility is for you make some children's television programmes which double up as educational resources. This could include a foray into animation! See here for a discussion of some popular children's TV programmes, which may give you some ideas.

Some possible projects for you to consider include:

1. I'm emailing from Glenealy School (Year 2 Teacher) but will soon be working for the Jane Goodall Institute. www.janegoodall.org & www.rootsandshoots.orgAnyway, I thought maybe some of your students may want to do their project based around a Public Service Announcement style advert for our organization (seeing as we are a charity just starting out).

Paul Lau

2. Any chance the students could make a video to show to parents to explain the IB Learner Profile and what it means in the school community, the classroom etc? This would be more interesting than the usual powerpoints I show. There is an example on the IB website but it isn't that interesting as it doesn't have any students explaining their perspective and what they think it means. (jharmer@kennedy.edu.hk)
Sherina Kima 10A

3. I have always thought it would be good to have a few video clips on our school website … school tour etc
Not sure if this is suitable but it maybe worth exploring. Allan Weston (Allan.Weston@sjs.esf.edu.hk)

4. This project sounds very exciting!I'd love to have someone/a group create at least one video to put on the CLC (or whatever it's going to become) for students learning the recorder from scratch. Another could prepare a double-sided A4 handout for parents evening with similar material. You might have some Y10 students who've been through this process themselves. If they enjoyed it and got something out of it they may well be interested in using this as their assignment. Cate O'Rorke - music teacher at QBS (cate.ororke@qbs.edu.hk)
I'll be taking this assignment (Richard Ma 10J2) (10mark1@webmail.sis.edu.hk)
I am doing this task (Stanley Leung) (leung.sleung@gmail.com)
I would like to do this (Michael Lui)
I want this too (Nick Lai)
I'll take this (Nobu Katayama)
I would like to do this too (Duncan Tsui)

5. Year 6 at DC would be interested in learning about film making as part of a unit called ‘Let’s Critique’. If your Media Studies students are interested in providing support in this area we can discuss further soon.
Regards,
Matt Baron (matt.baron@discovery.edu.hk)
I'll Take this <Gerard>

6. I'd be interested in participating. It would be great to create a resource that teaches MYP drama students about a particular genre, style of performance, period in theatre history etc. So do keep us in mind.

Thanks
Claire ( claire.connor@discovery.edu.hk)

7. Next term our students will be preparing for a production based on the book Rebecca's World. The work will involve creating backdrops, props, costumes, dances, etc then performing the complete production. We would love for it to be filmed and produced if that fits in with what you are doing. Perhaps there could be some filming during the production/preparation stages of the performance to include in the final media product.
Joe Butler (Joseph.Butler@sjs.esf.edu.hk)

8. At QBS we have been intending to produce a marketing DVD for new staff / parents to give them an introduction to our school. We have taken some video footage but haven’t got much further. I would be very interested in working alongside some of your students to carry out this project. I have spoken to Jamie Cadman, our Communications Officer and he is happy to be the mentor / facilitator for the joint project. Debra Gardiner

I want to do this :) <EricChow>

9. We are thinking of doing some kind of documentary that highlights the main features of this school aimed at primary school students or international students moving to hong kong. the video will show the facilities of this school such as the swimming pool, astro, multiplex area etc. the school timetable will have to be explained in detail as well although it changes quite a lot. other areas in the video would be credits/debits, house systems, social organization (1up, ah-mazing etc.), swiping in etc.

It will be made for teachers from primary schools as they might use the video to show their current year 6's or even lower year groups. this will could be an alternative for the year 6's visiting SIS every year as this video will give enough information to prepare for life in.
